Why We Are Stepping Away from Selling Wellies

Our welly-selling days are at an end!

When we first introduced wellies to our range in 2018, our goal was simple: to offer a high-quality welly at a competitive price point. We worked closely with our European manufacturer to design a cost-effective, stylish, neoprene-lined welly, and they quickly became a popular choice with our customers.

However, global supply chains were severely disrupted when the Covid pandemic hit. Rubber became scarce, staffing issues arose for our manufacturer, and, unfortunately, product quality began to suffer. Like many other footwear companies, we reluctantly turned to Asia — where the majority of the world’s rubber is now sourced — in an effort to continue supplying our popular wellies.

Despite our best efforts and using our original European-made wellies as a benchmark for our supplier, the Asian manufacturers have struggled to achieve the standards of quality, reliability and fit that both we and you, our customers, expected. Even after many months of sample trials, extensive prototype testing, and design modifications, the wellies, when they arrived with us, have simply not been good enough!

This has, understandably, led to disappointment for some of our customers — something we take very seriously. So, until we can find a supplier who can match the quality and reliability of our original wellies at a price that offers good value for our customers, we will not be reintroducing them to our range.

We want to thank everyone who supported our wellies over the years, and we want to assure you that behind the scenes we will continue to look for the right solution.

But for now, our welly-selling days are at an end.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
