Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of seeing our boots worn by gamekeepers, farmers, dog handlers and countryside enthusiasts across the UK and beyond. We’ve met thousands of customers, travelled the country to game fairs, introduced new boot models and most importantly, built a community around a shared passion for the countryside.
This year marks a milestone I could never have imaginged when Dedito first began. Ten years ago, we set out with one simple ambition – to create premium outdoor boots that combined generations of Italian craftsmanship with the performance demanded by the British countryside. Looking back now, I’m incredibly proud of how far we have come and grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey.
When people ask me how Dedito started, they often expect me to talk about boots.
The truth is, it started with a dog.
In 2003, a Weimaraner HPR called Dedito di Primavera of Weimar’s Joy came into my life. To everyone else he was Dedito, but to me he was simply Dodi. Through training and working Dodi across the UK, particularly on the North Yorkshire moors, I discovered more than a passion for working dogs. I found lifelong friendships, a deep appreciation for the countryside and a way of life that has shaped everything I’ve done since.
While spending time on the moors, I first heard about Diotto, a small family-run Italian boot manufacturer with generations of bootmaking expertise. As a fellow Italian, a natural relationship developed with the factory and its craftsmen. Before long, I was supplying boots to friends and local gamekeepers.
The more people wore them, the more feedback I received. Time and again, I heard the same thing: there was a need for a premium outdoor boot that combined exceptional Italian craftsmanship with the performance needed for the British countryside.
That idea became Dedito.
Ten years ago, we launched our first boot model, the Moorland, with one simple goal—to build boots without compromise. Boots that were handcrafted in Italy, made from the finest materials and developed alongside the people who rely on them every day.
I still remember packing up the stand for our first game fairs in 2016, wondering what people would think. I could never have imagined the journey that would follow.
Today, everything we do is still guided by those same values. Every new boot is shaped by feedback from countryside professionals, before being handcrafted by the same family-run factory in Italy that has been with us from the beginning.
This year, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary at The Game Fair, it’s a fitting occasion to share the next chapter of the Dedito story.
This latest model represents the next step in Dedito’s evolution of performance, protection and comfort and features world-first innovations in waterproofing technology and the world’s first application of carbon fibre eyelets in an outdoor boot.
I’d love you to join us—not only for the launch, but also for a glass of Prosecco and canapés on our stand between 4.00pm and 5.00pm on Friday and Saturday, as we celebrate ten incredible years together. We will also have our very popular barista Tom and his coffee trike back with us again this year, serving coffee to customers across the weekend.
Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or have only recently discovered Dedito, thank you for being part of this journey.
